Small Double Ottoman Beds

Small double ottoman beds take a 4ft mattress (120 x 190 cm) and lift on gas struts to reveal storage under the whole mattress, for bedding, suitcases and out-of-season clothes. Every bed on this page is made in a small double size.

Why a small double ottoman?

A small double is 15 cm narrower than a standard double (135 cm), so it fits spare rooms, box rooms and smaller bedrooms where a 4ft6 bed would crowd the floor, while still giving one adult plenty of room. Because an ottoman stores everything under the bed, you may not need a chest of drawers, which keeps a small room clear. Our bed sizes guide suggests a minimum wall width of 240 cm for a small double.

End lift or side lift?

End-lift beds open from the foot, so you need clear floor space at the end of the bed, as with the Ottoman Gas Lift Divan Base. Side-lift beds open from the long side, which suits narrow rooms or a bed whose foot sits against a wall, as with the Side Lift Ottoman Storage Base. Want a matching headboard?
